Fortunato Construction Group CEO, Lindsey Fortunato, and CFO, Jessica Idleman, were on hand at the Berlin High School Scholarship awards to present this year’s Shirley Ramos Memorial Scholarship recipient with a $2500 check. The annual FCG-sponsored Scholarship is given to female seniors pursuing a degree/technical training in construction. architecture, or engineering in honor of Shirley Ramos—a mentor and friend who lost her life to cancer in 2018 after a hard-fought battle with both Breast Cancer and Melanoma.
Shirley had a passion for supporting female leaders in Corporate America. Shirley wanted women to know that we can be powerful, joyful leaders in our professional and personal lives, when we engage and embrace the core of who we are. Fortunato Construction Group embraces this idea and strives to support this initiative both inside and outside of the organization. Our hope is that this scholarship helps a female in our community to reach their potential.
BHS Senior Molly Szczesniak was selected for her outstanding academic performance and intention to pursue a chemical engineering degree at UConn. Molly’s goal is to “be on the cutting edge of research aimed at ensuring all populations have clean, safe, and accessible water.” Her focus on innovation and leadership in the A/E/C industry is a bright example of why the Scholarship was established.
Congrats to all the awardees, we are so grateful to be a part of this community!
